HYDS Acquires Statkraft Project to Build 10MW Hydrogen Electrolyser at Port of Gothenburg by 2029
Hydrogen Solutions AS (HYDS) has acquired a project from Statkraft to build a 10MW hydrogen electrolyser at the Port of Gothenburg, aiming for completion by 2029. The facility will produce 2 to 4 tonnes of green hydrogen daily, significantly contributing to fossil-free fuel distribution and potentially reducing CO₂ emissions by up to 60 tonnes per day. HYDS plans to make a final investment decision in the first half of 2027, following a previous agreement to explore hydrogen production at the port.

Hydrogen Solutions AS (HYDS) plans to construct a 10MW hydrogen electrolyser at the Port of Gothenburg, establishing green hydrogen production by 2029. This investment enhances the port's role in fossil-free fuel distribution and supports the transition of various transport modes.
HYDS acquired the project from Statkraft, including necessary permits and financing. The facility will produce 2 to 4 tonnes of hydrogen per day, equivalent to 20,000 litres of diesel, potentially reducing CO₂ emissions by up to 60 tonnes daily.
The project follows a 2021 agreement between Statkraft and the Port of Gothenburg to assess hydrogen production conditions. The Port already has a public hydrogen refuelling station and is developing a comprehensive hydrogen infrastructure. HYDS aims for a final investment decision in the first half of 2027.
