Hypersonix Develops Hydrogen-Powered Jet Aiming for Mach 12 Capabilities
Hypersonix Launch Systems is developing a hydrogen-fueled hypersonic aircraft, DART AE, to explore flight speeds near Mach 12. The initiative focuses on practical testing of scramjet technology, which could advance aerospace engineering significantly.
Hypersonix Launch Systems is advancing a hydrogen-powered hypersonic aircraft, DART AE, targeting speeds near Mach 12. The aircraft will serve as a testing platform for hypersonic flight, analyzing combustion stability, aerodynamics, and engine performance under extreme conditions.
The scramjet engine operates without moving parts, relying on speed for air compression and using atmospheric oxygen for combustion. Although DART AE is expected to reach Mach 7 during tests, the Mach 12 capability pertains to the theoretical potential of the SPARTAN engine design.
Collaborations with Rocket Lab and Kratos Defense & Security Solutions are ongoing for testing and booster systems, with flights planned from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility. The emphasis on
