Hyundai to Deploy New Humanoid Robots for Manufacturing by 2028
Hyundai Motor Group plans to mass-produce a new humanoid robot model by 2028, differing from its CES 2026 prototype. The production version aims for a substantial cost reduction and enhanced productivity, crucial as the company targets a competitive edge in the robotic workforce market.

Hyundai Motor Group intends to start mass production of a new humanoid robot by 2028, with plans to produce 30,000 units annually. The production model will differ from the prototype displayed at CES 2026, focusing on affordability and performance while ensuring operational reliability.
The estimated price for the production model is projected at a minimum of $130,000, a significant reduction from the prototype's $300,000. To enhance competitiveness, Hyundai is exploring a subscription-based model for robot deployment, potentially reducing upfront costs for manufacturers.
Additionally, the company is investing 400 billion won in a robotics manufacturing complex set for completion in 2029. This initiative aims to support a robot foundry business model, similar to Taiwan's semiconductor industry. The broader impact includes potential productivity increases of up to three times that of human workers, addressing workforce challenges amid automation concerns.
