ICAR-SBI Advances Liquid Jaggery Production Technology for Entrepreneurs
ICAR-SBI is enabling entrepreneurs in Kerala and Maharashtra to produce nutrient-rich liquid jaggery, known as 'Kaakvi', with technology licensing. The initiative supports local businesses by offering training and technology transfer for ₹10,000.

ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute (ICAR-SBI) is licensing production technology for liquid jaggery, also known as 'Kaakvi', to entrepreneurs, particularly in Kerala and Maharashtra. A Kerala company is selling this nutrient-rich product for ₹100 per 600 grams.
The jaggery is high in potassium and minerals like manganese, calcium, and zinc, and may improve health outcomes such as haemoglobin levels. ICAR-SBI also produces cane jam, dietary fiber foods, and frozen products, and is exploring advanced drying methods for cane juice powder. This initiative could enhance local economies while promoting healthier food options.
