Icheon City Sets 2026 Goal for Semiconductor and Drone Industry Growth Ecosystem
Icheon City aims to create a growth ecosystem centered on semiconductors and drones by 2026. Mayor Kim Kyung-hee announced a budget of 1.3506 trillion won, focusing on five key areas: industry, welfare, safety, culture, and agriculture.
The city plans to accelerate high-tech industry development by establishing the Icheon Industrial Promotion Agency and expanding industrial complex clusters. A drone startup support center and an advanced defense drone festival will enhance the city's 'Drone-Centric City' brand.
Welfare initiatives include expanding support centers for youth, disabled individuals, and women, as well as increasing veterans' benefits and support for low-income households. Key priorities also include transportation and safety improvements, with plans for a 24-hour disaster safety room, intelligent CCTV expansion, and public transportation enhancements. Cultural infrastructure will be expanded through various projects, while agricultural goals include boosting sales of 'King's Icheon Rice' and implementing smart agriculture.
