ICVCM Approves Isometric, Gold Standard, and ACR Methodologies for Carbon Credit Standards
The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) has approved several methodologies under its Core Carbon Principles (CCPs) to enhance the credibility of voluntary carbon markets. Isometric's Reforestation Protocol version 1.1 received full CCP-Approved status, drawing interest from over 20 project developers and a projected issuance of millions of carbon credits by 2030.
Gold Standard's rice cultivation methane-avoidance methodology version 1.0 gained conditional approval, aiming to reduce methane emissions from flooded rice fields, with potential issuance of up to 3.2 million credits over five years, primarily in India. ACR's Improved Forest Management version 2.0 was also conditionally approved, making approximately 2.7 million credits eligible once conditions are met. These approvals reflect ICVCM's commitment to high-integrity carbon credits.
