IIT-Hyderabad Unveils Largest Indigenous Metal Powder Facility for Aerospace
IIT-Hyderabad has launched India's largest indigenous clean metal powder manufacturing facility, with a capacity of 100 kg, targeting aerospace and additive manufacturing. Supported by the Defence Technology Development Fund (DFTM) and partnered with Innomet Advanced Materials Ltd. and DRDO's Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory, the facility aims to produce nickel-based superalloys, cobalt-based alloys, and high-entropy alloys.
This project is set to reduce dependence on imported powders, streamline production timelines, and bolster India's aerospace and defense capabilities, while also fostering future research in advanced materials.
