Incheon City announced plans to establish a Defense Venture Center to attract a Defense Industry Innovation Cluster, linking high-value defense industries with local economies. Collaborating with the Agency for Defense Development, the center aims to support sectors like aerospace and UAVs.
Currently, 11 Defense Venture Centers exist nationwide, but none in the Seoul Metropolitan Area, creating a support gap. The Incheon center will manage the entire lifecycle of defense industry entry and commercialization, providing tailored support based on company growth stages. If successful, it is projected to generate over KRW 119 billion in added value and create around 1,200 jobs annually, bolstering the regional economy and addressing the structural gap in defense industry support.
