India Achieves Salvo Launch of NASM-SR Anti-Ship Missile
The DRDO and Indian Navy executed the first salvo launch of the Naval Anti-ship Missile-Short Range (NASM-SR), enhancing India's naval capabilities. This milestone reflects significant progress in indigenous defense technology development.

The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Navy have successfully completed the first salvo launch of the Naval Anti-ship Missile-Short Range (NASM-SR) from a helicopter platform in the Bay of Bengal, Odisha. Two missiles were launched in quick succession during the trial at the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, achieving all test objectives and confirming waterline-hit capability via advanced tracking systems.
The NASM-SR, developed by Research Centre Imarat and other DRDO labs, incorporates multiple indigenously developed systems, including a solid propulsion booster and advanced navigation technologies. This successful test underscores a significant advancement in India's indigenous missile capabilities and defense self-reliance, potentially impacting naval operations in the region.
