India Advances Quantum Radar Development for Naval Superiority
India's development of quantum radar is a strategic initiative to enhance stealth detection capabilities in naval warfare. Spearheaded by the Military Quantum Mission, this program aims to counter advanced stealth threats and improve operational effectiveness against electronic warfare.

The Indian Navy's Military Quantum Mission aims to develop indigenous quantum radar to enhance stealth detection, officially launched in January 2026. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is leading this effort, focusing on quantum magnetometers designed to detect stealth submarines by identifying subtle magnetic disturbances.
Current integration efforts are centered on the Nilgiri-class frigates, with plans to replace traditional magnetic anomaly detectors with quantum magnetometers. Upcoming Project 17B will feature permanent quantum radar systems, while submarine programs and aircraft carriers are set to adopt advanced quantum technologies. These advancements could significantly increase operational resilience against sophisticated electronic countermeasures, marking a critical shift in naval capabilities.
