India Amends Customs Notifications for Duty Exemptions and Trade Facilitation Measures
The Government of India has amended several customs notifications to enhance trade facilitation and duty exemptions, including expanding defense import exemptions and imposing a five-year Anti-Dumping Duty on Insoluble Sulphur from China and Japan. Key updates include the addition of Air Canada to the customs duty exemption list, the introduction of a unified Electronic Bond system, and the implementation of the Automated Out of Charge system for AEO clients starting January 1, 2025. Additionally, measures for pet imports and simplified air cargo procedures aim to streamline customs processes further.

The Government of India has issued multiple notifications affecting customs regulations. Notification No. 12/2025-Customs amends the duty exemption for defense imports, expanding it to include Chapter 93.
Notification No. 13/2025-Customs imposes a five-year Anti-Dumping Duty on Insoluble Sulphur from China and Japan. Additionally, Notification No. 50/2017-Customs has been amended to set a new rate and extend an exemption deadline to March 31, 2026.
Notification No. 130/2010-Customs adds Air Canada to the list of airlines eligible for customs duty exemptions. The Automated Out of Charge (Auto-OOC) system will be implemented for AEO clients starting January 1, 2025.
The 'Ekal Anubandh' project introduces a unified Electronic Bond system. New measures for pet imports streamline No Objection Certificate issuance. Circulars extend transitional provisions for Sea Cargo Manifest regulations and simplify air cargo movement procedures.
