India and France Strengthen Defense and Nuclear Cooperation Ahead of G7 Summit
India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi will enhance bilateral relations with France during his week-long visit, focusing on defense projects and civil nuclear energy. Key initiatives include the Multi-Role Fighter Aircraft project and a commitment to increase nuclear power capacity to 100 GW by 2047.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to France will prioritize defense collaboration and civil nuclear energy advancements. The Multi-Role Fighter Aircraft (MRFA) project aims to integrate Indian weapon systems, with 18 Rafale jets supplied by Dassault Aviation, 50% of which will be produced locally.
India seeks to boost its nuclear power from 8.78 GW to 100 GW by 2047 following the SHANTI legislation. During the G7 Summit, Modi will address global South priorities and engage in bilateral discussions with President Macron on various sectors. Twelve new bilateral initiatives are anticipated to be launched.
