India Conducts First Salvo Launch of NASM-SR Anti-Ship Missile
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Navy successfully executed the inaugural salvo launch of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile-Short Range (NASM-SR) on April 29. This event marks a pivotal advancement in India's maritime strike capabilities and indigenous defense technology development.

On April 29, the DRDO and Indian Navy achieved a major milestone by conducting the first salvo launch of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile-Short Range (NASM-SR) from a helicopter off the Bay of Bengal near Odisha. The trial involved the launch of two missiles in quick succession, demonstrating coordinated strike capabilities and meeting all test objectives, as confirmed by telemetry and tracking systems.
The NASM-SR is designed for high precision against hostile naval targets at a range of 55 km, featuring advanced guidance systems. This success underscores India's commitment to self-reliance in defense technology and may enhance naval operational capabilities, allowing for saturation tactics in future engagements.
