India Conducts Successful Salvo Launch of NASM-SR Anti-Ship Missile
India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Navy have completed the first successful salvo launch of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile-Short Range (NASM-SR). This advancement enhances India's maritime strike capabilities and showcases indigenous technological development in missile systems.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy achieved a significant milestone by successfully conducting the maiden salvo launch of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile-Short Range (NASM-SR) from a helicopter platform. This launch, executed off the coast of Odisha in the Bay of Bengal, involved the firing of two missiles in rapid succession, confirming the missile's capability to strike waterline targets effectively.
Performance data captured from tracking instruments at the Integrated Test Range validated the trial outcomes. The NASM-SR features a solid propulsion booster and integrates various indigenous technologies, including advanced navigation and guidance systems.
Development was spearheaded by the Research Centre Imarat in collaboration with other DRDO entities, with ongoing production efforts involving domestic partners. The successful trial emphasizes India's commitment to enhancing its defense manufacturing capabilities.
