India Enhances Maritime Security Measures for Vessels in Persian Gulf Amid Rising Tensions

DEFENSE

India's Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) has strengthened maritime security measures in the Persian Gulf due to rising regional tensions. Minister Sarbananda Sonowal chaired a meeting to review the security environment and its implications for India's maritime operations.

The Ministry has activated enhanced monitoring and oversight in response to threats, including missile and drone activity, with real-time tracking of Indian-flagged vessels and round-the-clock monitoring through the MMDAC DGComm Centre. Coordination with agencies like the Indian Navy and the Ministry of External Affairs is ongoing. Stakeholders are advised to maintain vigilance and implement enhanced security protocols.
