India Expands Defense Procurement from US Amid Declining Russian Supplies
DEFENSE
India's defense procurement from the U.S. has risen to $20 billion, making the U.S. the third-largest arms supplier to India. A $1 billion deal was signed for 113 F404 engines from General Electric for the Tejas Mk-1A.
India is negotiating to co-produce F414 engines for the Tejas Mk-2 and plans to lease additional MQ-9B drones. The U.S. recently approved arms sales worth $92.8 million. India's defense strategy includes enhancing domestic production and capabilities to counter China's military power, while also considering partnerships with France for advanced technology and fighter jets.
