India Increases Armed Drone Production Amid Regional Tensions
India's military orders for domestically produced armed drones surged over 20 times due to regional conflicts and a push for self-reliance. The government aims for 18% annual growth in defense production, with a target of $30 billion in industry revenue by 2030.

India's defense contracts for the 2025-2026 fiscal year reached 2.3 trillion rupees, with 70% designated for domestic manufacturers. The demand for armed drones has escalated significantly, driven by a military clash with Pakistan and U.S.-Israel airstrikes on Iran.
Orders for the fiscal year 2026-2027 have hit 3.14 billion rupees, a dramatic rise from 1.4 billion rupees the previous year. The Indian government, aiming to double defense revenue to $30 billion by 2030, is focusing on localization and private sector involvement. However, India still relies on imports for critical electronic components, highlighting vulnerabilities in its supply chain amid increasing military assertiveness.
