India Launches Green Hydrogen Skilling Initiative to Train 600,000 Workforce by 2030
The Government of India has launched a skilling initiative under the National Green Hydrogen Mission to train 600,000 professionals by 2030. The program, managed by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has a budget of ₹35 crore from FY 2023-24 to FY 2029-30. It aims to produce 5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen annually and includes three training pathways: Short-Term Training, Recognition of Prior Learning, and long-term integration into academic curricula.

The initiative encourages broad eligibility for applicants and will be implemented through decentralized proposals from states and Union Territories, promoting private sector involvement.
