India to Begin 2nm Chip Production, Joining Elite Semiconductor Producers
India's upcoming 2nm chip production marks a significant step in its semiconductor manufacturing capabilities, aiming for technological autonomy and global competitiveness. This initiative, part of the India Semiconductor Mission, aligns with a broader $10 billion incentive plan to enhance the country's role in the semiconductor value chain.

India will soon begin manufacturing 2nm chips, positioning itself among a select group of countries in advanced semiconductor production. This initiative is part of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), which aims to strengthen technological independence and support design and production capabilities through significant investments in infrastructure and workforce training.
The country is also leveraging international partnerships to enhance its production facilities, ensuring compliance with advanced fabrication requirements. The move into 2nm technology reflects a strategic shift towards self-sufficiency in semiconductor manufacturing, crucial for sectors such as defense and telecommunications, especially as global supply chains diversify away from traditional hubs. India's entry into the 2nm market is expected to bolster its geopolitical standing and foster innovation in electronics.
