India to Market AMCA Stealth Fighter for Global Exports Amid Jaguar Retirement Plan
India is transitioning its Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program from domestic development to potential global exports. The selected industrial consortium will be authorized to market the AMCA internationally, subject to government approval. This initiative aims to strengthen India's defense industrial base and improve strategic ties through defense exports. Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force plans to retire its aging Jaguar aircraft while extending the service life of Mirage-2000s until 2039, managing fleet strength amid delays in new fighter inductions.

India is repositioning its Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program as an exportable platform, allowing the industrial consortium to market it globally after securing necessary clearances. This strategy aims to enhance India's defense manufacturing and establish its presence in the international fighter market.
Concurrently, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is planning to retire its Jaguar strike aircraft, which have served for over forty years, while extending the service life of Mirage-2000s until 2039 to maintain squadron strength. The transition reflects logistical challenges and delays in the induction of new fighters, including the Tejas Mk2 and additional Rafales. The AMCA program is expected to produce two variants by the mid-2030s.
