Indian Army Achieves Major Milestones in 2025 with Operation Sindoor and Enhanced Warfare Capabilities
In 2025, the Indian Army marked a shift towards future-ready warfare, highlighted by Operation Sindoor launched in May following a terror attack by Pakistan Army-backed terrorists. The operation resulted in the destruction of nine terrorist camps—seven by the Army and two by the Air Force—demonstrating precise and time-bound strikes.
Between May 7 and May 10, the Army successfully neutralised Pakistani drone threats. In addition, over a dozen terror launch pads were destroyed, leading to a ceasefire agreement on May 10. The Army reported advancements in long-range firepower, including a BrahMos missile launch on December 1 and the operationalisation of additional Pinaka MBRL regiments.
The induction of six AH-64E Apache helicopters further boosted strike capabilities. The Army initiated new battlefield structures and highlighted significant indigenous procurement, with 91% of ammunition now indigenised. Digital transformation efforts included new applications, while military diplomacy expanded through joint exercises with multiple countries.
