Indian Army and Forest Department Plant 10,000 Trees in Upper Assam
The Indian Army's Red Shield Division, in partnership with the Forest Department, planted 10,000 trees from June 1-3, 2026, in Upper Assam. This initiative aims to improve environmental sustainability and community engagement ahead of World Environment Day.

From June 1 to June 3, 2026, the Red Shield Division of the Indian Army, along with the Forest Department and local communities, planted 10,000 trees in Tinsukia and Charaideo districts of Upper Assam. The campaign involved participation from army personnel, NCC cadets, local organizations, and residents, focusing on boosting the region's green cover and enhancing ecological awareness.
This effort aligns with broader goals of promoting sustainable development and community involvement in environmental conservation. Concurrently, the Assam government plans to engage 35 lakh women Self-Help Group members to plant 1 crore saplings on June 5 for World Environment Day.
