Indian Army Assists IDPs in Launching Mobile Canteen in Bishnupur
The Indian Army's Red Shield Division has supported the establishment of a mobile canteen service operated by Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Thanga, Moirang, and Kumbi. The initiative, aimed at promoting self-reliance, began with the distribution of cooking items at the Community Hall in Sendra, near Loktak Lake.
The canteen will initially serve food to students at Thanga Island Modern School and is expected to operate throughout the academic year, providing income and employment opportunities for IDPs. This program emphasizes sustainability, livelihood security, and community integration, reflecting the Indian Army's commitment to humanitarian outreach. Key attendees included Brigadier Sachin S Mahadik and Additional Deputy Magistrate Toijam Opendro.
