The Indian Army has installed Thermal Imaging Fire Control Systems (TIFCS), developed through an Indo-Israeli collaboration, on 96 T-72 tanks after successful validation trials. The upgrade, aimed at enhancing night-fighting capabilities, was executed by Alpha-Elsec Defence & Aerospace Systems, a joint venture between Alpha Design and Elbit Systems. The contract for the systems was signed in 2023, with manufacturing conducted in India. The initiative aligns with the Make-in-India programme and is expected to increase Alpha-Elsec's order book for indigenous defence supplies.

The Indian Army has completed the installation of Thermal Imaging Fire Control Systems (TIFCS) on 96 T-72 tanks after successful firing validation trials. The TIFCS, developed through a collaboration between Bengaluru-based Alpha Design and Israel's Elbit Systems, enhances the T-72's operational relevance in low-visibility conditions.
The contract for these systems was signed in 2023, and the manufacturing took place in India. The system features automatic target tracking and ballistic corrections, improving night-fighting capabilities. Alpha-Elsec, a joint venture, reported an increase in orders for indigenous defence supplies after fulfilling this contract.
