DEFENSE

The Indian Army will debut a 'Battle Array' formation at the 77th Republic Day Parade on January 26, 2026, aimed at demonstrating modern battlefield deployment. The S-400 air defence system will be featured in the Department of Military Affairs tableau, recognizing its effectiveness during Operation Sindoor, where it downed five Pakistani jets.

The parade will include offensive formations showcasing integrated force structures across various military units, emphasizing data-driven operations and long-range precision strikes. New units such as the Bhairav Battalion and Shaktiban Regiment will be introduced, alongside indigenous systems like ATAGS and drones.

European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will attend as chief guests. A unique 'animal soldiers' contingent will also participate. The parade will highlight 30 tableaux focusing on '150 years of Vande Mataram,' with a total of 18 marching contingents and 13 military bands.
