DEFENSE

On December 5, 2025, the Indian Army introduced the 'Sapper Scout RP Ver 2.0', its first indigenously developed multi-utility Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV), at 'Inno-Yoddha 2025' in New Delhi. Designed for combat environments, it features capabilities such as mine detection, reconnaissance, and remote engagement.

Major Rajprasad RS highlighted its modular structure and high mobility across rugged terrain. Concurrently, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) confirmed the scalability of its Air-Independent Propulsion (AIP) technology for the Indian Navy's Project 76 submarines, enhancing stealth and endurance.

The AIP system is adaptable for larger platforms, promising outputs exceeding 200 kW. Project 76, budgeted at ₹12 lakh crore, aims for 90% local content, ensuring self-reliance in maritime defense amidst increasing underwater activity in the Indian Ocean.
