Indian Lake High School Students Build Historic 1841 Cannon for Kenton Community

DEFENSE

Indian Lake High School Industrial Arts and Welding students have constructed an 1841 Napoleon six-pounder cannon for the Kenton community. The project, organized by teacher Ed Rogers and supervised by David Snapp, involved seniors Harley Lhotak, Marvin McIntire, Bryce Mohler, and Avery Pequignot over three months of design and assembly.

Funded by the Armory Foundation and Quest Federal Credit Union at nearly $7,000, the cannon replicates a model used by the U.S. Army since 1841. It will serve as a historical display outside the Hardin County Armory and will be fired during Memorial Day observances to honor local veterans. The project emphasizes the value of hands-on education and community involvement.
