Indian Navy Launches Indigenous 30mm Naval Surface Gun Development for Enhanced Maritime Security
The Indian Navy has released an Expression of Interest for an indigenous 30mm Naval Surface Gun with an Electro-Optical Fire Control System, part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The project aims to replace outdated foreign systems with a lightweight, networked weapon capable of engaging diverse threats. Prototypes are expected within 36 months, with the potential for over 100 units ordered, enhancing India's defence manufacturing and operational capabilities.

The Indian Navy has issued an Expression of Interest for developing an indigenous 30mm Naval Surface Gun (NSG) integrated with an Electro-Optical Fire Control System (EOFCS). This initiative, under the 'Make-II (IDDM)' category, aims to replace aging foreign systems with a networked gun capable of targeting UAVs and maritime threats.
Successful prototypes are expected within 36 months. The project seeks to enhance indigenous manufacturing, with potential orders exceeding 100 units. It also addresses evolving Indo-Pacific threats and aims to position India as a supplier of customizable close-in weapon systems to regional navies.
