Indian Navy's First Indigenous Cadet Training Ship 'Krishna' Launched in Chennai

The Indian Navy launched the first indigenous Cadet Training Ship, named 'Krishna', at L&T Shipyard in Kattupalli, Chennai, in the presence of Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan. The ship's launch was conducted by DWWA president Anupama.
The contract for three cadet training ships was signed with the Union Ministry of Defence in March 2023. Each ship will accommodate a crew of 20 officers, 150 sailors, and 200 cadets. Its primary function is to provide basic sea training to Navy cadets, with secondary roles including acting as a hospital ship and performing non-combatant evacuation and humanitarian assistance operations.
