Indian Navy's Training Squadron Visits Singapore, Enhancing Maritime Cooperation

The Indian Navy's First Training Squadron (1TS) arrived at Changi Naval Base, Singapore, on 15 January 2026, to strengthen ASEAN-India maritime ties during the ASEAN-India Year of Maritime Cooperation. The squadron includes INS Tir, INS Shardul, INS Sujata, and Indian Coast Guard Ship Sarathi.

Personnel from the Indian Navy and Republic of Singapore Navy are engaging in professional and cultural activities to enhance interoperability and training standards. Concurrently, INS Sagardhwani launched its fifth Sagar Maitri mission for scientific partnerships in ocean research with eight Indian Ocean rim nations, including Maldives and Sri Lanka. The initiative aims to foster scientific collaboration and capacity building in ocean research among IOR countries.
