Indian Oil Corporation Secures Approval for Kochi-Kanyakumari-Thoothukudi Gas Pipeline
Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) has been authorized by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) to construct the Kochi-Kanyakumari-Thoothukudi Natural Gas Pipeline (KTPL). This 425 km pipeline will enhance gas infrastructure in southern India, facilitating regasified LNG transport to key demand areas and supporting the expansion of City Gas Distribution networks.

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has authorized Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) to construct the Kochi-Kanyakumari-Thoothukudi Natural Gas Pipeline (KTPL), which will span approximately 425 km and have a capacity of 6.84 million metric standard cubic meters per day (MMSCMD). This project aims to improve gas supply in southern India, enhancing energy accessibility and supporting the development of City Gas Distribution networks for residential and commercial use.
The authorization followed a competitive bidding process where IOCL was selected as the successful bidder. The pipeline is expected to strengthen regional gas infrastructure, integrate with the national gas grid, and promote cleaner energy use, aligning with government objectives for increasing natural gas's share in the energy mix.
