Indian Railways Approves ₹895.30 Crore for Infrastructure Enhancement
Indian Railways has sanctioned ₹895.30 crore for key infrastructure projects aimed at upgrading bridge systems and metro rail power capabilities. These initiatives are critical for meeting rising passenger demands and improving operational efficiency.

Indian Railways has sanctioned projects totaling ₹895.30 crore to enhance infrastructure in West Bengal. A significant portion, ₹671.72 crore, is allocated for the North-South Corridor of Kolkata Metro, including the installation of seven new Traction Substations and the upgrade of existing power systems to 33 KV.
Additionally, ₹223.58 crore has been approved for reconstructing Bridge No. 520, vital for the Asansol-Tatanagar route. These upgrades will improve safety, reliability, and service frequency, allowing Kolkata Metro to operate at a 2.5-minute headway. Strengthening these infrastructures is expected to enhance freight connectivity and support local industries, promoting economic growth in the region.
