Indian Startups Seek Chinese Battery and EV Tech for Cost Reduction
An Indian delegation explored Chinese manufacturing capabilities to enhance cost efficiency and technology access in clean tech. This initiative is crucial for Indian startups facing challenges like high component costs and extended sourcing timelines.

An eight-member Indian delegation focused on renewable energy and electric mobility visited East China from March 29 to April 4. The group, organized by PHDCCI, sought to identify technology solutions and potential partnerships with over two dozen Chinese companies within the EV and renewable energy sectors.
Key discussions occurred at the Global New Energy Empowerment Centre in Shanghai, where Indian delegates met with numerous firms including Jinko ESS and Trina Solar. Observations revealed significant automation in factories and vertical integration in production processes.
The interaction highlighted the support from Chinese district-level administrations for clean energy manufacturing. Indian startups aim to leverage these insights to reduce development timelines and costs, potentially accelerating India's clean energy initiatives.
