India's Cleantech Recycling Strategy for Global Manufacturing Leadership

HYDROGEN

India aims to leverage cleantech-driven recycling to reduce import dependence, strengthen supply chains, and enhance its global manufacturing position. The country targets 500 GW of non-fossil energy and 30% electric vehicle sales by 2030, with a net-zero goal by 2070.

The domestic market for cleantech components could reach ₹6-8 trillion by 2030, but India currently relies on imports for 80% of solar modules, batteries, and green hydrogen components. Investment in recycling infrastructure and technologies can reclaim critical materials, potentially saving ₹5-6 trillion in import costs.

By 2030, cleantech manufacturing could generate 1 million direct jobs. India must mobilize ₹2 trillion in public investment and raise R&D spending to 1% of GDP to foster innovation in cleantech recycling. A holistic approach involving fiscal incentives, strategic acquisitions, and workforce skilling is essential for India's competitive edge in sustainable manufacturing.
