India's SHANTI Act to Enhance Nuclear Sector with Private Involvement, Says Minister Jitendra Singh

The rule-making process for the SHANTI Act has commenced, with expected completion in 2-3 months. Singh noted positive responses from private and foreign collaborators, particularly during discussions with the US Secretary of State.
He acknowledged the high costs of nuclear energy but stressed the necessity of transitioning to clean energy sources. Singh stated that advancements in technology and reactor design over the past 18 years necessitate a reevaluation of nuclear strategies.
He affirmed that despite recent PSLV issues, India maintains a strong record of successful launches. Future human missions are planned cautiously, with timelines potentially extending into late 2026.
