Indichem Launches Semiconductor Materials Plant in South Korea
Indichem, a joint venture between Acutaas Advance Material Limited and J & Materials Co. Ltd, has initiated operations at a semiconductor materials plant in Gongju, South Korea, using Indian feedstock. The facility represents a KRW 30 billion investment and aims to address the semiconductor photoresist supply chain, which currently relies heavily on Japanese suppliers.

Indichem's semiconductor materials plant in Gongju spans 16,500 square meters, with 6,600 square meters fully constructed. The facility commenced construction in September 2025 and is designed for ultra-high-purity refining of semiconductor materials, with shipments to start in September 2026.
Acutaas holds a 75% stake in Indichem, while J & Materials controls 25%. The plant will supply materials processed from Indian feedstock, targeting the growing demand in India's semiconductor ecosystem, which currently relies on foreign sources for key materials.
The establishment of a research and synthesis center in India is planned for 2027, potentially enhancing local supply. This venture responds to a strategic need for greater domestic materials production amid global supply chain challenges.
