Indium Corp Secures $3.2M Grant for Domestic Gallium Recovery Project
Indium Corp has received a $3.2 million grant from the U.S. DOE to develop a domestic high-purity gallium recovery process. This initiative aims to enhance supply chain stability for critical materials used in defense and electronics.

Indium Corp has been awarded a $3.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation for a project to establish a domestic process for high-purity gallium recovery.
This initiative is significant as it aims to restore domestic gallium production for the first time in nearly 40 years, addressing the growing demand in semiconductors and defense systems. The project will be conducted at Indium Corp's facility in Rome, New York, utilizing existing infrastructure for scaling gallium recovery from production by-products.
The project will unfold in two phases, with Phase 1 focusing on prototype validation and Phase 2 on scaling production to at least 1 metric ton of 4N-grade gallium annually. The potential expansion of this capacity aligns with increasing commercial demand.
