Indonesia and Slovakia Establish Strategic Partnership in Trade, Education, and Nuclear Energy

DEFENSEFUSION & ADVANCED NUCLEAR POWER

Indonesia and Slovakia have agreed to strengthen their bilateral relationship into a strategic partnership focused on trade, investment, education, defense, and nuclear energy. This decision followed the visit of Slovakian Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár to Jakarta, where he met with Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono.

Key initiatives include a visa exemption for diplomatic and service passport holders, collaborative research on wheat varieties, and defense cooperation through Indonesia's Danantara sovereign wealth fund. Slovakia offers its expertise in nuclear energy to support Indonesia's plans for its first nuclear power plant.

Both nations signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance trade and investment cooperation in energy transition, food self-sufficiency, and healthcare. The Foreign Ministry will propose the strategic partnership to the President for approval, with plans for President Prabowo Subianto to visit Slovakia to finalize the agreement.
