Indonesia Awards Nine Oil and Gas Blocks to Enhance Energy Security
Indonesia's Energy Ministry has awarded nine oil and gas blocks to various companies with an investment commitment of nearly $85 million, aimed at boosting energy security. Key awards include the Bintuni and Drawa blocks to a BP-led consortium, the Southwest Andaman block to Mubadala Petroleum, and the Barong block to Inpex and BP. The Bintuni block has approximately 2.1 trillion cubic feet of gas resources, while Drawa has around 360 billion cubic feet. The Southwest Andaman block is projected to contain about 3 trillion cubic feet of gas.

Indonesia's Energy Ministry awarded nine oil and gas blocks with a total investment commitment of nearly $85 million. The Bintuni and Drawa blocks, located offshore West Papua, were awarded to a consortium of BP Exploration Indonesia, MI Berau, CNOOC Southeast Asia, and Indonesia Natural Gas Resources Muturi, with Bintuni estimated to have 2.1 trillion cubic feet of gas and Drawa around 360 billion cubic feet.
The Southwest Andaman block was awarded to Mubadala Petroleum Limited, projected to have 3 trillion cubic feet of gas. The Barong block went to a consortium of Inpex Corporation and BP Exploration Indonesia, with a gas potential of about 2.9 trillion cubic feet, while the Nawasena block was awarded to Medco Energy Linggau in East Java.
