Indonesia inaugurated a battery precursor materials facility by PT Anugerah Barokah Energi Baru at Setangga SEZ in South Kalimantan on January 13. The plant, with a capacity of 20,000 tonnes, aims to support the global lithium battery supply chain.

Investment at Setangga SEZ is projected to reach IDR67.69 trillion by 2053, creating over 78,000 jobs. The facility aligns with Indonesia’s downstreaming policy and is expected to enhance economic growth and national defense capabilities. The inauguration was attended by various officials, including Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
