Indonesia Signs $450 Million Deal with India for BrahMos Missile System Acquisition
Indonesia has formalized an agreement with India for the purchase of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, valued at $350-450 million. This follows the third India-Indonesia Defence Ministers' Dialogue and marks Indonesia as the second Southeast Asian nation to acquire the system after the Philippines. The BrahMos missile, first used in combat during Operation Sindoor in May 2025, offers a range of 290 kilometers and is engineered to evade air defense systems. This acquisition is part of Indonesia's defense modernization efforts amid rising tensions in the South China Sea.
