Indonesia to Establish International Military Training Facility on Morotai Island
Indonesia plans to build an international military training facility on Morotai Island, North Maluku, to support joint exercises with partner countries, according to Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin. The facility aims to accommodate air, naval, and ground training for countries including Australia, the Philippines, and Japan. The proposal stems from the Indonesian government and reflects the strategic significance of Morotai, historically a military base since World War II.
