Indra Secures 45% of €13 Billion Defense Contracts in Spain's Industrial Plan

DEFENSE

The Spanish government has executed €10.471 billion of the Defense Industrial Plan by signing 31 modernization contracts, allowing the country to claim a 2% GDP military spending target to NATO. The deadline for executing the plan coincides with the end of 2025, with NATO set to review compliance in January 2026.

Following initial delays in fund allocation, the government successfully signed all contracts by December 2025. Three companies dominate the contracts: Indra, Airbus, and Navantia, which together account for 83% of the modernization package.

Indra has notably secured 45% of the contracts, valued at over €13 billion until 2037. To ensure fair distribution of funds, the Defense Ministry requires these companies to create partnerships with SMEs in the sector starting January 1, 2026.
