Inertia Enterprises Secures $450 Million to Develop Fusion Energy Pilot Plant
Inertia Enterprises has raised $450 million in Series A funding, led by Bessemer Venture Partners, to advance its commercial fusion energy project. Founded in 2024 and based in Livermore, California, the company plans to build a fusion pilot plant using technology proven at the National Ignition Facility. This funding will support the development of its Thunderwall laser system and a production line for mass-manufacturing fusion fuel targets, aiming for commercial-scale fusion energy within the next decade.

Inertia Enterprises announced the completion of a $450 million Series A funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners to advance its commercial fusion energy project based on inertial confinement fusion physics demonstrated at the National Ignition Facility. Founded in 2024 in Livermore, California, Inertia plans to construct a fusion pilot plant and develop Thunderwall, the world's most powerful laser system.
The funding will also establish a production line for manufacturing fusion fuel targets at scale, supporting a phased commercialization roadmap to deliver grid-scale fusion electricity and a gigawatt utility-scale fusion power plant within the next decade. The leadership team includes CEO Jeff Lawson, Chief Scientist Dr.
Annie Kritcher, and CTO Prof. Mike Dunne.
