INNIO plans to double the output of its modular natural gas generators for data centers, addressing immediate electricity needs ahead of a nuclear energy rollout expected in 6-10 years. The company has a saturated order book for 2026 but will have spare capacity for 2027/2028.
These gas generators will serve as emergency power sources amid increasing power cuts due to inadequate grid infrastructure. Companies like Shell, Chevron, and ExxonMobil are partnering with tech firms to develop off-grid, natural gas facilities at data center locations, such as a 4.5 GW site in Abilene, Texas. Additionally, the PSRU ETF includes 10% Shell and holdings in Siemens, CAT, and RR.
