Innovative Camouflage System Receives Gold Commendation
Private Blaithe Gill-O'Connor's rapid deployment camouflage system for armored vehicles has earned a gold commendation. This innovation enhances military capabilities by significantly reducing the time required for deployment compared to traditional methods.

Private Blaithe Gill-O'Connor of the 1st Armoured Regiment received a gold commendation from Vice Chief of the Defence Force Air Marshal Robert Chipman for developing a camouflage system that can be deployed by two soldiers in five minutes. The project, supported by MakerSpace and the Air Force Innovation Pipeline, employs thermal cam netting to conceal vehicle heat signatures from drones.
Funding from the EDGY Air Force Innovation program supported material purchases, while the project aimed to foster grassroots innovation within the military. This initiative highlights the potential for accelerated deployment of advanced camouflage solutions, which could enhance operational effectiveness in combat scenarios.
