Investigation Launched on Tk3,825 Crore EVM Procurement in Bangladesh
An audit has raised objections regarding the procurement of 150,000 EVM machines costing Tk3,825.34 crore, with an ongoing investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission. The Election Commission has decided against using these machines, which are currently stored in warehouses.

The procurement project for 150,000 EVM machines, initiated under the Election Commission Secretariat from July 2018 to June 2024, totaled Tk3,825.34 crore. The machines were acquired through the Bangladesh Army, and an investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission is currently ongoing due to unresolved objections raised by the Comptroller and Auditor General's office.
The Election Commission's 8th meeting on 10 July 2025 confirmed that EVMs would not be utilized in upcoming elections. Local government elections are conducted in phases, requiring at least 45 days for preparations. This situation raises concerns about the management of public funds and election integrity.
