Iran Protests Intensify Amid Violence; Regional Dynamics Shift with US and Israeli Involvement
Protests in Iran have intensified since January 1, with security forces reportedly killing demonstrators in rural areas, prompting anti-regime funerals and violent responses from protesters. Amid rising tensions, Iranian officials have threatened retaliation against U.S. interests, while anti-regime sentiments have spread to Sistan and Baluchistan Province. Concurrently, regional dynamics shift as Israel conducts airstrikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon and Saudi-backed forces escalate operations in Yemen.

Protests in Iran have escalated in violence since January 1, particularly in rural areas, with security forces reportedly killing protesters in locations such as Kuhdasht and Marvdasht. Funerals for these protesters turned into anti-regime demonstrations on January 2.
Protesters have responded violently, throwing Molotov cocktails and burning regime property. Iranian officials have threatened retaliation against US interests if the US intervenes. Anti-regime protests also emerged in Sistan and Baluchistan Province, where a prominent cleric criticized the regime's economic management.
The newly formed Mobarizoun Popular Front expressed support for the protests. In Yemen, Saudi-backed forces launched an operation in Hadramawt, leading to increased tensions with the STC. Israel conducted extensive airstrikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon amidst preparations for potential operations. Iranian authorities reportedly offered advanced weaponry for cryptocurrency to bypass sanctions, while Jordanian airstrikes targeted drug trafficking sites in Suwayda Province.
