Iraq Advances Nasiriyah and Gharraf Gas Field Project in Partnership with Baker Hughes
Iraq's Nasiriyah and Gharraf natural gas field project, developed in partnership with Baker Hughes, has progressed to an advanced implementation stage, with equipment delivered and installation set to begin. The facility aims to process 200 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas, with operations expected to start in Q1 2027, enhancing fuel supplies and stabilizing the national power grid while reducing emissions and flaring. The initiative underscores the government's focus on international collaboration to improve energy infrastructure and environmental performance.

Iraq's Nasiriyah and Gharraf natural gas field investment project has reached an advanced implementation stage, with specialized equipment delivered and on-site installation set to commence. Developed in cooperation with US-based Baker Hughes, the facility aims to process approximately 200 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d) of natural gas, with initial operations slated for Q1 2027.
The project is a strategic priority for the Ministry of Oil, expected to enhance fuel supplies to the national power grid and stabilize the energy system. It will also reduce flaring of associated natural gas, cut emissions, and improve domestic energy resource utilization. The government is focusing on cooperation with international energy firms to enhance infrastructure and energy security while improving environmental performance.
