Ireland Allocates €37.5M for Agri-Food Research and Innovation Initiatives
Ireland's government has announced an investment of €37.5 million for 30 research projects in agri-food, forestry, and the bioeconomy. This funding aims to enhance sustainability, improve public health, and bolster industry resilience through innovative solutions.

On April 30, the Irish government revealed a €37.5 million investment to support 30 research projects across 19 institutes in the agri-food, forestry, and bioeconomy sectors. Key focuses include improving water quality, enhancing biodiversity, and reducing methane emissions in livestock.
Projects range in funding from approximately €170,000 to €3 million, with initiatives like AI applications for disease control and sustainable packaging solutions. The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs in Northern Ireland will contribute €3.1 million to enable collaboration with Irish partners. This investment is anticipated to foster a skilled workforce, involving over 90 postgraduate students and 60 contract researchers, strengthening Ireland's research capabilities.
